Saying Goodbye

I always say…"the only way to ease the pain of family leaving from a great visit is to take them on a game drive"…at least; it's what I ALWAYS say since I moved to Botswana. So, when it was time for my family to go…we did just that.We saw some elephants, some rhino and some giraffe which were great because Ana was awake for all of this game drive and gave every animal she saw the name "dawg." Dereje's favorite part of the game drive was when he leaned over to kiss me only to find Ana staring at him before leaning forward herself saying, "mmmmmmuuuuhhhh"…clearly she was ready for a kiss too…and after trying to win her over for the last month…he certainly deserved it!

After the game drive we went to one of our favorite spots for lunch…favorite not only for the food, but also for the great playground for Ana and James.
This gave me the chance to chase Ana around the playground just one last time…cherishing the moments of lifting her onto the slide and working hard at keeping her from eating too much dirt…but, as her mother says...a little dirt never hurt anyone. I sure do miss having my little dirt eating, mess making, cheese puff eating niece around!
I want to say thank you to my family for making such a long trek to come and see us…our house is much quieter now that everyone is gone, but at least we have lots of great pictures to keep us company! We love you guys!
