This is a tapestry that I bought there. Oodi village is a village just about 20km from my village, but I had just never heard anything about it. When my family decided they were coming over I decided to go visit it before they came even though everyone had told me that they were bankrupt and out of business. Well, they certainly weren't out of business; and I happen to think that my family might have made it so that they can stay around a lot longer with their sudden economic boost.Saturday, August 04, 2007
We really did well at helping the local economy
I have to give props to my family for knowing how to shop. If you had asked me a month ago if they really make anything in Botswana, I would have said, "well, we do have some pottery…and some baskets but that's about it. It turns out; I just never really had much of a chance to do some good shopping here. One amazing place that we found was Oodi Weavers.

Much to my father's dismay…the shopping didn't stop there. We found a fantastic quilting store in Gaborone that makes hand made quilts in record time! Megan had them make her a beautiful quilt for the new baby on the way (name of new baby omitted because Megan refuses to tell us what the new baby's name is…if I could, I think I would tickle torture her daily until she broke…but it looks as though I might just have to wait until the kid appears to hear the name).
