Dearest Saba (a.k.a my huge 9 month old)

Oy! You're 9 months! And you're back up to the 15 percentile with your weight! What's not to love? I mean, my gosh, look how pinchable your thighs are! Your thigh chub gets highlighted nicely on a daily basis cause you now basically live in a swimsuit. And eat watermelon - you're apparently a HUGE fan of summerOne of your favorite things to do is to putter around on the top step of the pool. You are a crazy splasher and you love to touch the rough floor of the step. This month we found an awesome deal on a play kitchen for you - yes, you are a bit young for a play kitchen - but you sure manage to have some fun with it. You like to take all of the dishes out of the dishwasher...and put them in your mouth - and then you like to take all of the saucepans off of the stove...and put them in your mouth - and then you take the pizza out of the oven and the birthday cake out of the fridge...and put them in your mouth - all of this leads me to believe that the people who say you're not old enough for a play kitchen are full of hooey - you totally get it - everything in the kitchen goes directly into your mouth. Yes, you will spend your entire adult life trying to train yourself to NOT DO THIS - but, for now, have at it!
This Month we celebrated Daddy's 33rd Birthday! You got to watch him blow out his candlesWe had a really nice dinner outside with Grandma Didi, Papa Bruce, and Uncle Alex. Uncle Alex made his famous mint chicken with a spicy kick (just the way Daddy likes it). We all enjoyed it!
You feasted on Ritz crackers and rice (get some more teeth and then we'll talk about you partaking in mint chicken)Thank you for an awesome month and thank you for being my wonderful little muffin head!
Love, Mama

Apparently I only blog about holidays

I can't believe that the last time I posted was Mother's Day - but I guess I've been busy. Busy sunning...
And hanging out with Grandma DiDi..
And eating ice cream!
Memorial Day also gave us a little time to peruse the local Craigslist, which I haven't done lately, but will start doing daily - cause we found an awesome deal on a Pottery Barn Kids Kitchen!

It came with all sorts of wooden food, spices, and utensils. Saba and I are ecstatic that we now have a kitchen to play with! Yes, it takes up half of the living room, but that's neither here nor there Bon Apetit! I promise a real post soon - I've been slacking!

A Mother's Day to Remember!

With Saba, life is like one big parade - basically, we wave at ANYTHING that moves...or anything that breathes...or anything that looks like a rock...simply put, she waves at EVERYTHING! Amazingly, Saba has been waiving at things since she was around 4 months - so, she's kind of a pro.
When we took Saba down to my parents' pool this weekend she was pretty busy waving at the waterfall and all of the kids - it was her idea of heaven.
And it was my idea of heaven because I got to spend the afternoon with my beautiful baby and my wonderful husband in the sun (oh yeah, we also drank cocktails by the pool...Dereje and I did...not Saba...she drank milk...and let it spill down her chin).
Best of all Saba was highly entertained by Daddy's impression of a shark - a really goofy shark (oh, and Dad if you recognize the swimsuit Dereje's wearing...thanks! we couldn't find his).

All in all it was a very sucessful day at the pool - which got even better when we came home to find my brother, Alex, had made homemade mac 'n cheese for dinner! A dinner that Saba truly appreciated!

My fantastic Mother's Day weekend was sooooo nice - especially when Dereje and Saba woke me up on Sunday morning with....not breakfast...even better - a beautiful diamond necklace. Can you imagine anything better than waking up to THAT necklace - and THIS face
Thank you to my beautiful family for a wonderful Mother's Day!

Dear Saba (a.k.a my BIG eight month old)

Wow - my darlingest of darlings Saba, you are freaking EIGHT MONTHS OLD. I have A LOT to tell you about you've been up to. First off, you are a growing machine. When it comes to the doctor's charts are are actually quite itty bitty, but we're working on that ! Truth be told, this past month was a bit stressful - you actually went a whole month without gaining ANY weight - I believe the medical term for that is, "wow, that 's not good." So, these past couple of weeks I've really worked on "beefing" you up! And, apparently, I ROCK AT BEEFING YOU UP!
Here's a picture of teeny tiny you

AND, here's a picture (a week later) of you all "heifered" up! (I believe that all of your weight gain is mostly in your "jowls" - which I squeeze and slobber all over on an hourly basis).

What do we have to attribute to your recent weight gain, you may ask? To that I will answer honestly - I now give you whole milk mixed with a little bit of formula in between your constant nursing...so, baby, you're eating all day - ahhh, your master plan has worked!

To be honest, this feeding method has worked out really well for both of us - you are now a stuffed tick and I am a bit more free (your daddy can now give you milk mixed with formula to get you through your days)! Basically you're a happy - crawly - kid, who has BOTH of her parents wrapped around her little finger (not to mention your grandparents and uncle).

It's a good thing you're so adorable! There have also been some other changes this month - you've basically become the social butterfly that your mother has always realized you will be. You get together with you friends from mommy's yoga group on a monthly basis - and the group has moved from "baby blobs" to "ahhh, the babies are crawling" - it's pretty awesome.

Notice I am one of the only moms holding her baby by the back of her dress. Want to know why? Cause you're kind of a Saba-Saurous-Rex when left to your own devices!
A BEAUTIFUL Saba-Saurous. I love you my darling little eight month old!

Thank you for choosing me as your Mama!

This is what happens when I watch the Today show...

I start to want a bucket...not just any bucket - a Tummy Tub!
It's a Tub...that's supposed to be kind of like a womb...I...can't...look...away. Everywhere you look there's little baby tummies, chubby arms, and squishy feet - I love it! There's just something about the Tummy Tub that screams - "I needs it" - I know that there are some skeptics out there - but I think the Tummy Tub is pretty cool - if only my local consignment store would comply with my every want...nay, need!
