Our Trip to DC
The first week of March, Saba and I packed our bags to join Dereje (who left a week earlier) in DC to visit with Dereje's family! It was a wonderful vacation with lots of family and friends and LOTS OF ETHIOPIAN FOOD!
It was kind of like we were in Ethiopia - there were Ethiopians everywhere, lots of Ethiopian food, even Ethiopian dancing!
In DC we stayed with Dereje's Brother and Sister-in-law - which was awesome because we had access to family and home-made Ethiopian food at all hours of the day!
Now, other than eat...we did do a little bit of sightseeing
We even went to see the sights at night even though it was really really cold (just because it was also really really beautiful)
Just to prove that we weren't being total wimps - and that it was really really cold Dereje went out one morning to take a picture of the SNOW. FALLING. IN MARCH!
To warm up we spent a good amount of time exploring the botanical gardens (Saba was pretty enamored with the banana tree)
And we also found that visiting with family, drinking wine...AND EATING LOTS OF ETHIOPIAN FOOD kept us incredibly warm!
It was a wonderful visit and we had a fantastic time seeing lots of family and friends AND LOVED EATING LOTS OF ETHIOPIAN FOOD!
