I realize that I know absolutely nothing about American History…

The best thing about American Holidays over here is that I have to explain to people what the holiday celebrates. The more holidays that pass…the more I realize that my explanations are weak, at best. I have also found that much of my knowledge about American history comes from Disney….I realized this when I was asked about Thanksgiving.
Now Disney never really made a movie about Thanksgiving… but, they did make a little movie called Pocahontas. So, if you ever run into a Motswana that tells you that Thanksgiving is the day we celebrate the love between John Smith and a little Indian princess…you can thank me (now if they start to sing Vanessa William's "Paint with all the colors of the wind"…that has nothing to do with me)!
