Last night I started contractions at around 7pm...and the sad thing is that after all this time of waiting for contractions-it's not the biggest thing that happened last night. Apparently, my contractions were no match for the strong gusts of wind and torrential downpours that surrounded the house. It's kind of hard to top the fact that a tree fell on our house last night!
In fact, it was during one particularly annoying contraction that the power went out in the house (that's right, no air conditioning and no fans!)...talk about taking away my gusto. Luckily, the power came on and off through the night, as did my contractions...so basically we started this morning with a collective "no scene here"...no midnight trips to the hospital and no need for
Dereje to assist in Saba's delivery, and no need for a you-tube version of how to make your own epidural. Basically, our only scene is that there is a huge tree blocking the road and part of our gutter is hanging off of the roof...but no baby, yet.
So, I am going to go to the hospital a little later this morning to "get checked out" (a.k.a the hospital is trying to see how many charges they can rack up before I actually get a baby)...so hopefully they'll tell me that I'm on my way, or at least starting my way to have a baby any time now. Until said baby comes I am going to count my blessings that a tree didn't fall right IN FRONT of the garage barring any escape for me and my impending child.
Mostly it's the neighbors who have to figure out how they're going to get past the tree this morning!

manda,sorry for the big tree falling on part of the house.please,remove old trees before it blocks your gate.

I have been thinking about you! Oh my gosh, what a night you had! Don't forget to text me when Saba is here in person! :) A homemade epidural sounds fun, does that include concoctions of whiskey and bourbon?
hey mama- dorothy brockhagen sounds great to me! and whats this talk of epidural you can do it without one!!! at home with a tree on your house- what a great birth story that would have made! have lots of sex- that'll bring baby on!
