Last Wednesday was Dereje's Birthday. Dereje is pretty much studying non-stop, so we didn't have much time to celebrate on Wednesday, but we did manage to have a small party on Friday! Much to Dereje's delight my Mom and Dad got him exactly what he wanted..even though he had no idea that this is what he wanted...A GRILL!!!
Dereje and my Dad put the grill together in no time flat (and by no time flat I mean give or take 2 1/2 hours) - but they were pretty proud of themselves once the grill was together! And, once the grill was together, their job changed from "putting the grill together" to "toasting one another that the grill is together" - Both are tough jobs.
Dereje cooked some wonderful steaks on the brand new grill and we had a truly wonderful night relaxing and eating (two of my favorite things)! I have to say, I haven't had red meat in a while and I often hear about pregnant women craving red meat, and now I can see why. It tasted so good (even though I had to have mine medium-well instead of the medium-rare that I prefer).
After dinner we celebrated with one of my...I mean Dereje's favorites. Cheesecake! Okay, I was much more excited about this part of the celebration than he was - but he was pretty excited about blowing out the candles.
So Dereje is now 32 years old and officially knows how to grill a good steak all by himself...I would say that is mission accomplished!
