Hi, just wanted to update my blog, for anyone that I may have forgotten in an e-mail. I am currently in Francistown waiting for my bus to Masunga where I will be staying for the next 5 days. Everything is great, there's so much to get used to. I live with a very nice family who don't have the best english skills, but their hearts are so welcoming and nice. I'm very lucky to have lots of children in my household...it means that we eat a lot of porridge and beans, but we also have a lot of laughter and no money for a tv...which is great, well, unless Botswana decided to all of the sudden show cheerleading nation, then I might have to visit others for their tv's!
My first couple of days at the house were interesting, I'm only there in the evenings and in the mornings, but it takes me about 3 hours to really get anything done. Whether I'm making a bath (and by bath, I mean bucket), or washing dishes a fire has to be made outside in the yard! I'm actually getting a little bit faster every day, the other day it only took me 40 minutes to heat water!
I'm hoping that this experience will help me to feel like I live in the lap of luxury when I move into my government housing, but who knows! I think what makes my house the best though is all of the activity, there are always kids wanting me to shuffle cards (so that it makes a tstststs sound...not sure if that translates), and we play go fish and uno...becuase those are the only games I know how to play. Every day I ask other volunteers if they have any other games for me, because I am the nighttime entertainer, but I might have to move to singing songs and making up dance routines! I have one of the most active houses, but also one of the poorest in my village! I prefer it though, some people have no children but running hot water! I think I have the better situation hands down!
Hope everyone is well. I just got a cell phone, so hopefully I can have a little more contact! I'm not sure how it all works, but I am learing. My cell number is country code 267 71227773. Hope all is well! Manda

Let's see...you could turn the deck of cards into a game of memory by taking out half the cards and look for the same numbers. That's all I got. Sounds like you are having quite an experience. Your family sounds great. Just as long as you don't have to ride a bike right? Do they smoke and have a million cats like you requested?
Ana sends you a big, slobbery kiss.

You could always teach them your self-defense moves. The "up and over" is easy to learn. Then, you can move to the throat gouge. But I'd suggest starting with that fanning/slapping technique you have.
