Tomorrow we drive to Gaborone (hard h in place of the g...for those that were wondering)! Also, when it's shortened to Gabs, it's usually pronounced with a G because it seems like kind of a "pet name" for expatriates...that seems to be the story. For those of you who aren't on skype my sister Megan and I just found out that it is basically fantastic for when I have an internet connection. For those intersted to to www.skype.com and create an account...then add me "Manda Brockhagen" to your contact list, that way when I am online and you're online it shoudl show, and we can talk for free!!! If you don't have an internal microphone you'll need to pick up a cheap one from best buy our something...so far, seems pretty awesome! I will likely not have internet for a little while. Tomorrow we leave for Gaborone, and stay in a hotel for 3 days there; then I go to my host family. I will be living in a town named Thamaga for my training time (9 weeks)... all of the DACs will be there! I am very excited to start my training, and am very excited to keep in touch with everyone! Thank you so much for everyone's support, can't wait to keep you updated!Thursday, April 20, 2006
Have made it to Africa
Just wanted to let you all know that I have made it to Johansesburg! The flight wasn't so bad, and the hotel is a five star hotel that is just fantastic! We were met with wine and cheese...totally feel at home here!

Hey Manda- Sorry that I missed you before you left. I hope everything goes well for you on this new journey. It's really admirable and inspiring. You will definitely be missed! I'm looking forward to your future blogs. As a trade off, here's my own blog that should cover the next few years in Spokane: "played some tennis, ran over another pothole, and my dog got into the cat's litter box again." Damn exciting, eh? ;)
Take care! Have fun! Be Safe!
Luv ya!
Tom
