Dereje and I have a great weekend tradition (tradition = 2 weeks running) to go to my parent's house in Scottsdale for the weekend. Dereje usually goes down to Kaplan early in the morning to start studying (until he finishes his tests to join a Medical Residency program he will be studying every Saturday for many months to come) It just so happens that there is a bus that brings Dereje up North from Tempe to a little spot next to the new Whole Foods which is about 15 minutes from my parent's house...so, we not only get to pick up my husband but we also get to stock up on anything flax and whole wheat! On Sunday we all usually play tennis or go for a walk and then take a nice long swim in my parent's community pool before doing a little sunning.
I have to say when we went last weekend I really thought that there was no way that both Dereje and my Dad would stand for laying in lounge chairs for a while, but I was pleasantly surprised. In fact, I believe it was me who finally called "uncle" and said that I had to go inside (mostly because I was hungry for lunch). Take a look at Dereje below, it's like he's been living in the lap of luxury for years.
